The Across the Spider-Verse final trailer also gives us a glimpse of Spider-Man 2099
With just three weeks until the film’s release, Sony has released the Spiderman: Across the Spider-Verse final trailer which highlights a few of the new Spider-friends we’ll be meeting in the upcoming Spider-Verse sequel. Included in that list of arachnids are Miguel O’Hara (Spider-Man 2099) and a house-cat known as Spider-Cat.
This Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse final trailer also recaps many shots that we may have already taken a look at, but it adds onto the beautiful action of the animated feature film. In the follow-up, Miles will once again team up with Peter B. Parker and Gwen Stacy to defend the multiverse.
After being reunited with Gwen, Miles is introduced to the perplexing multiverse through the Spider Society. The friendly local Spider-Man from Brooklyn learns that his counterparts are responsible for protecting the multiverse’s existence. The Across the Spider-Verse final trailer teases a confrontation between Miles Morales and Spider-Man 2099 and provides a first look at Spider-Cat’s abilities.
The leader of the Spider-Society, Miguel O’Hara, played by Oscar Isaac, is depicted in the trailers as causing Miles and his companions difficulties. That said, Spot will be the main antagonist of the film. While fans shouldn’t expect to see Spot’s full arsenal of abilities in the upcoming film, they can expect an introduction to Spot’s potential impact to the story, according to director Kemp Powers. Powers also confirmed that Spot will be the main villain of the third installment in the series.
Highly anticipated to be one of the best animated films in history, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse premieres in theaters on June 2.
