Once again, Spotify has released the official Barack Obama Summer 2023 playlist for all of us to enjoy. The POTUS playlist features 41 tracks that range from an eclectic variety of music genres.
Obama shares lists of his favorite books, songs, and movies twice a year as a habit. His top songs of 2022 featured songs by Rosala, Maggie Rogers, Kendrick Lamar, and Bad Bunny. The year before, the same accolades went to Mdou Moctar, Mitski, the War on Drugs, and others.
“Like I do every year, here are some songs I’ve been listening to this summer — a mix of old and new,” tweeted Obama. “Look forward to hearing what I’ve missed.”
The Barack Obama Summer 2023 playlist includes artists from SZA, Drake, and Kelela to Ella Fitzgerald, Steve Wonder, and Pearl Jam. SZA’s “Snooze,” J Hus and Drake’s “Who Told You,” Rosala and Rauw Alejandro’s “Vampiros,” Ice Spice and Nicki Minaj’s “Princess Diana,” and Janelle Monáe’s “Only Have Eyes 42,” are among the tunes featured.
Luke Combs’ number one cover of Tracy Chapman’s “Fast Car” as well as Phoebe Bridgers, Lucy Dacus, and Julien Baker’s Boygenius hit “Not Strong Enough” gives Obama’s playlist some country love.
Back in June, Hasan Minhaj asked Obama if he really curated his own POTUS playlist. “People seem to think, ‘Well, he must’ve had some 20-year-old intern who was figuring out this latest cut,’” replied Obama. “No, man! It’s on my iPad right now!”
Yes, it’s 100% official and authentic. Would you expect otherwise? Make sure to tune into the Barack Obama Summer 2023 Playlist below, also streamable through Spotify.
