In case you missed the show, we’ve compiled the BET Awards 2022 winners list for you here on Black Producer. The 22nd annual BET Awards celebrated Black excellence in the music industry and was held on June 26 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles and was hosted by Taraji P. Henson.
Throughout an emotional night, numerous stars filled the stage with heartfelt speeches and spoke to their rights and beliefs. Drake and Ari Lennox both earned four nominations, while Doja Cat received six, making her the most nominated artist.
The award show featured performances by Chlöe, Doechii, Jack Harlow, Latto, and included a BET Lifetime Achievement Award tribute to Sean “Diddy Combs” from Mary J. Blige, Nas, Lil’ Kim, Busta Rhymes, Jodeci, Faith Evans, The Lox, Bryson Tiller, and The Maverick City Choir. Diddy was acknowledged for his “incomparable cultural force and creative visionary whose impact has created historic paradigm shifts across music, media, fashion, and lifestyle”.
In a surprise appearance, Kanye West awarded Diddy with the BET Lifetime Achievement Award honor. “I go to him for advice to this day. He inspires so many of my choices, so many of my life choices,” said. West. “This man has been through and survived a lot of stuff and broke down a lot of doors so we can be standing.”
