Drake’s Sixth Album “Certified Lover Boy” Has A Release Date

Drake’s Sixth Album Certified Lover Boy Will Be Released This Friday

Drake revealed in an ambiguous social media post on Monday morning that his new album named Certified Lover Boy, or CFB for short, will be released later this week on September 3rd. According to Tidal’s senior content officer Elliott Wilson, the post also includes the official album cover artwork.

Certified Lover Boy was supposed to be released earlier this year in January but was postponed due to an undisclosed surgery that Drake had to recover from. It continued to be repeatedly postponed thereafter. Then out of nowhere a teaser appeared earlier last week during ESPN’s SportsCenter when a cryptic ESPN promo hinted at a September 3 release date.

The bizarre Instagram post from earlier this morning has Drake confirming the release date along with the Certified Lover Boy album cover which showcases emojis of twelve pregnant women. The album cover may look like a copy and paste job done from a mobile phone but it is actually the work of English artist Damien Hirst. If you have not seen it yet, please take a look at it yourself. It is probably one of the most outlandish and comical album covers that we have come across.

A popular verified Drake fan account also posted a photo of the same album cover with the caption “1 of 2 by Damien Hirst. @champagnepapi”. It is possible there may be an alternate album cover yet to be revealed.

Certified Lover Boy is Drake’s sixth album (full-length LP) and the successor to 2018’s Scorpion. This has been his biggest time gap between albums since Nothing Was the Same and Views, surpassing over 3 years of hiatus. Over the years, Drake has not gone completely quiet as he released some music since his last album such as 2019’s Care Package and last year’s Dark Lane Demo Tapes.
