Following up the Zone, the Dyson OnTrac headphones are finally here
Will the new Dyson OnTrac headphones gain second wind for the multinational technology company? Following up the Dyson Zone hybrid headphones which debuted back in 2022, the new OnTracs focus purely on sound with improved battery life and noise cancelling features. They’re also much less expensive than the Zones, which makes it more accessible to the audiophile market.
Retailing for $499.99, the Dyson OnTrac headphones offer up to 55 hours of battery life with active noise cancellation turned on. Dyson has also improved the overall design of the OnTrac. There are three cushions on the headband with the top made of foam. The other two cushions on the sides are actually battery packs! Well ain’t that something.
With an audio frequency range of -6Hz to 21kHz, Dyson’s 40mm neodymium drivers allow us to hear all of the details at both the lowest lows and highest highs. Additionally, Dyson utilizes eight microphones that take 384,000 surrounding samples per second to cancel out noise up to 40dB. The active noise-cancelling (ANC) is marketed as “best-in-class”.
Additionally, users may track noise overexposure and encourage good listening habits by measuring and recording the noise levels they are exposed to by using the MyDyson app, available on both iOS and Android.
Those who love to customize their peripherals would love that Dyson has offered customizable cups and ear cushions here for the OnTrac. Dyson claims that there are over 2,000 different color combinations to choose from, all, which are available for purchase separately. These are entirely easy to swappable without the need for any tools.
The ear plates are made of CNC-machined aluminum with some that feature a matte ceramic coating. The Dyson OnTrac headphones come in four colorways at launch (copper, aluminum, cinnabar, and black nickel).
