Minhaj, a comedian and TV host, and Antentokounmpo, an NBA champion and Oreo cookie lover, have embraced us with a collaboration for a WhatsApp digital comedy short that dives into both of the stars’ cultural backgrounds.
The classic Horse basketball game is a competition where the players create and make matching baskets. If the second player shooting doesn’t duplicate the first player’s basket, they will be penalized with a letter. Spell out “HORSE”, and you lose.
The dynamic duo have turned it up a notch and changed the game’s name to “ADETOKUNBO”, an homage to Antentokounmpo’s Yoruba name. Due to their shared immigrant histories, both Hasan and Giannis joyfully discuss their complex yet similar experiences with their given names.
Together as ambassadors for WhatsApp, Hasan Minhaj and Giannis Antentokounmpo continue to spread the company’s “There’s No One Like Us” narrative. The international messaging and voice over IP (VoIP) service is urging its two billion users to embrace the various cultures that make them special.
