The Hip-Hop Forever concert at MSG begins September 15
In celebration of 50 years of Hip-Hop, radio station Hot 97 will be hosting the upcoming Hip-Hop Forever concert at MSG, curated by DJ Funk Flex. Together, they will bring along some of the biggest acts in hip-hop in an event that features performances by Mary J. Blige, EPMD, Tyrese, Sean Paul, and main headliner the Wu-Tang Clan.
The Hip-Hop Forever concert at MSG is taking place on September 15 at the legendary Madison Square Garden in New York City. Maxwell and Mariah Carey are also listed on the bill as special guests, although it is currently unknown at this time if they’ll also be performing.
The next evening, Nas and De La Soul are kicking off the North American portion of the Wu-Tang Clan’s N.Y. State of Mind Tour.

Earlier this year, DJ Funk Flex squashed a 25-year beef with the Wu-Tang Clan by apologizing for the incident involving their 1997 Summer Jam headline performance. At the time, Hot 97 required the group to go to the East Coast on their own cash and play at Summer Jam for free, as described in the 2019 docuseries Wu-Tang Clan: Of Mice and Men.
“They didn’t play our records for like the next 10 years,” recalled Inspectah Deck in the docuseries. “That affected our sales, that affected our touring, that affected everything. That affected our presence.”
Presale for the Hip-Hop Forever concert at MSG is scheduled for Thursday, June 15, while general admission tickets are available on Friday, June 16 via Ticketmaster. The show is following Hot 97’s annual Summer Jam, whose most recent edition features Cardi B as well as Ice Spice, Scarlip, Lil Tjay, Lola Brooke, GloRilla, The LOX, Coi Leray, and Fivio Foreign.
