The upcoming Hulu limited series MIKE tells the story of Mike Tyson
The official MIKE teaser trailer is out! The eight episode series is created and executive produced by screenwriter Steven Rogers and the team behind Hulu’s I, Tonya. The show starrs Trevante Rhodes (Moonlight, Bird Box) as Mike Tyson and Laura Harrier (Spider-Man: Homecoming, BlacKkKlansman) as Robin Givens, Mike’s ex-wife.
The upcoming Hulu limited series MIKE is described by the streaming platform as “an unauthorized and no-holds-barred look at the life of Mike Tyson.” The show delves into Tyson’s career in the boxing ring as well as his personal life and analyzes class, racism, fame, and the power of the media through the prism of Mike Tyson.
Mike Tyson’s life is depicted in the new MIKE teaser trailer, starting with his youth and through his early twenties as a rising star athlete. Rhodes is shown embracing his stature as “Iron Mike” through grit and glory. Other shots show Tyson throwing a television, walking through prison, and even holding onto the leash of his exotic tiger. Russell Hornsby will play as the boxing promoter Don King, while Harvey Keitel, Laura Harrier, and Li Eubanks will make guest appearances. Along with Claire Brown, Craig Gillespie, Bryan Unkeless, Scott Morgan, Darin Friedman, Anthony Hemingway, Anthony Sparks, Samantha Corbin-Miller, Tom Ackerley, and Margot Robbie, Karen Gist will serve as the showrunner and executive producer.
In 2015, Jamie Foxx was announced for the lead role in a forthcoming Mike Tyson biopic. If that were to ever come to fruition, it would surely be an entertaining cross comparison to see how Rhodes and Foxx take on the role of Iron Mike.
The Hulu limited series MIKE premieres on Hulu August 25.
