Microsoft Office 2021 Is Out

Debuting with their new OS, Microsoft Office 2021 is out

In the latest version of Microsoft’s office software, the Microsoft Office 2021 is out alongside Windows 11, their newest operating system. Following similar prices to the previous edition, the bundles offer Microsoft Office 2021 software for those who would like a one-time purchase over a subscription fee.

Microsoft Office 2021 is the most recent version of Microsoft’s well-known office suite for both PC and Mac. It includes the classic office productivity software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, as well as Teams, their more recent software that provides video conferencing, meetings, and calling.

Like previous years, Microsoft Office 2021 is out in two versions, Office Home and Student 2021 and Office Home and Business 2021. Office Home and Student 2021 costs less at $149.99 and contains Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote and Microsoft Teams for both PC and Mac. Office Home and Business 2021 is priced at $249.99, and includes the addition of the Microsoft Outlook email service and the legal rights to use the apps commercially.

Some of the highlights include the support for the OpenDocument format (ODF) 1.3, new Excel capabilities, a new presentation recording tool for PowerPoint, and enhanced translation functionality for Outlook. Users will also notice a new intelligent search box at the top of all Office programs, which is aimed to make it easier to find documents, instructions, and specific sections of text.

All of the programs have received a visual upgrade to synchronize the user interface with Windows 11, Microsoft’s latest operating system. Rounded corners, a new color palette, and an enhanced ribbon interface are all part of the package. Additional features can be found listed on the Office 2021 site.

Even though Microsoft Office 2021 is out, those who prefer a subscription based model can still opt for Microsoft 365 to access the same updated versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc. It all comes down to preference as Microsoft Office 2021 does not provide updates to future versions of the software but will include a lifetime license for the suite while Microsoft 365 will be up to date at the cost of the monthly subscription.
