Sweet Tooth And John Doe Face Off In New Twisted Metal Trailer

The most recent glimpse of the new Twisted Metal trailer has got us on the edge of our seat and our seatbelts fastened. Peacock’s upcoming live-action video game adaptation of the classic PlayStation series features Anthony Mackie as John Doe and Samoa Joe as Sweet Tooth, who is voiced by Will Arnett.

This isn’t Sony’s first rodeo bringing video games to film and TV. The critically acclaimed HBO adaptation of The Last of Us was a huge success, and now Sony is ready to launch the post-apocalyptic action comedy onto Peacock. Based on the vehicular combat video game franchise published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, the series also stars Stephanie Beatriz as Quiet, Thomas Haden Church as Agent Stone, Richard Cabral as Loud, and Neve Campbell as Raven.

The new Twisted Metal trailer starts off with Sweet Tooth and Anthony Mackie’s John Doe brawling in a casino. A rendition of “Thong Song” is played in the background as the two go off on a tangent about their attendance to “the show” as well as their love for Sisqo.

John Doe has been offered a chance of a better life, and now holds the responsibility of delivering a package across a wasteland. Per the Twisted Metal synopsis, “With the help of a badass axe-wielding car thief, he’ll face savage marauders driving vehicles of destruction and other dangers of the open road, including a deranged clown who drives an all too familiar ice cream truck.”Based on an original take by “Deadpool” writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, Twisted Metal is written by Michael Jonathan Smith and all 10 episodes are set to debut on Peacock on July 27.
