The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 Ti has just been announced at CES 2022
Tech giant Nvidia introduced their Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 Ti at the 2022 Consumer Electronics Show. Although the reveal only gave us a small glimpse of what’s to come, we now know the rumored GPU does indeed exist.
At launch, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 Ti will most likely be the most powerful consumer graphics card. This model will become Nvidia’s current top of the line GPU. The company plans to release more details later this month, perhaps when the 3090 Ti is on the market.
With the current supply chain crisis and semiconductor scarcity causing production issues, it’s been remarkable to see the consistent two-year rhythm of graphics card launches remain virtually intact for Nvidia. The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 was released in September 2020, while the RTX 4080 is planned to be released in Q3 2022.
In comparison to the RTX 3090, the upcoming Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 Ti is set to feature 10,752 CUDA cores in its GA102 GPU, rather than the 10,496 cores from the former. There will be a different board design along with a different memory layout that uses twelve 2GB modules in place of twenty four 1GB modules. Expect costs to be higher than the 3090’s $1,499 retail price.
Nvidia stated at CES 2022 that the VRAM on the RTX 3090 runs at around 19.5Gbps, while the memory performance on the higher Micron VRAM on the 3090 Ti runs at around 21Gbps. This would push the card’s memory bandwidth above 1TB/s, surpassing the 936GB/s of the RTX 3090. Improved framerates for the upper echelon of PC builds would complement the increase in VRAM and memory bandwidth.
Making chips to fulfill demand, Nvidia has also announced new devices for entry-level and high performance computing at their CES 2022 conference. The company revealed their GeForce RTX 3050 GPU that launches on January 27 for $249. Also discussed were new laptops powered with 3070 Ti chips that start at $1,499 and 3080 Ti chips for $2,499. Both are set to go on sale on February 1.
