Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2022 Nominees

A Tribe Called Quest, Dionne Warwick, Eminem, and Lionel Richie featured as Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2022 nominees

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2022 nominees have been announced! A number of first timers have made the bill which include A Tribe Called Quest, Beck, Carly Simon, Dolly Parton, Duran Duran, Eminem, and Lionel Richie. Some familiar names are also back in the Hall of Fame Class of 2022 induction nominees including Kate Bush, Devo, Dionne Warwick, Eurythmics, Fela Kuti, Judas Priest, Kate Bush, MC5, New York Dolls, and Pat Benatar, and Rage Against the Machine.

An official announcement will come in May where the winners of the 2022 induction nominees will be revealed, while the ceremony will be held later this fall (location and date still to be determined). Through April 29, fans are able to select from a list of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2022 nominees and vote on the Rock Hall website. The top five artists are presented as a “fans’ ballot alongside ballots sent out from the thousands of artists, historians, and members of the music industry.

There’s only one artist on the list of potential Hall of Fame Class of 2022 induction nominees to make it during their first year of eligibility, and that’s rapper Marshall “Eminem” Mathers, an accomplishment that Jay-Z made last year in 2021. Rhythm and Blues legend Dionne Warwick is on her second nomination while revolutionary political rock band Rage Against The Machine is receiving their fourth.

Belle & Sebastian, Erykah Badu, Fiona Apple, *NSYNC, and the Spice Girls are among the acts who became eligible this year as Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2022 nominees but didn’t make the cut. Unfortunately, previous candidates such as Bad Brains, Eric B. & Rakim, Mary J. Blige, and Soundgarden were not inducted and did not make the long list of 2022 induction nominees.

Amongst last year’s inductees include Carole King, Foo Fighters, Gil Scott-Heron, The Go-Go’s, Jay-Z, Kraftwerk, LL Cool J, Tina Turner, and Todd Rundgren. Paul McCartney gave an induction speech and performed with the Foo Fighters while Dave Chappelle and Barack Obama both honored Jay-Z.
