The Odyssey OLED G9 super-ultrawide monitor will be the “world’s first 49-inch OLED gaming monitor”
If ultrawide monitors haven’t sufficed, Samsung has launched a brand new 49” Odyssey OLED G9 super-ultrawide monitor to provide gamers the maximum amount of screen space to immerse themselves in. Samsung not only employs the acclaimed OLED technology here, known for its deep blacks and vibrant colors, but also a Dual Quad HD resolution (5120 x 1440 pixels), resulting in a whopping 32:9 aspect ratio.
With a 240Hz frame rate, 0.03ms gray-to-gray response time, and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro support, the Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 super-ultrawide monitor might be overkill for your average gamer. It’s obviously intended for the enthusiast market, but the amount of screen space on this beast allows for daily computing to be a breeze.
The monitor also utilizes Samsung’s Quantum Dot technology, which produces a richer color palette and increased brightness compared to what is already attainable with conventional OLED panels. Despite having a brightness of 250 nits, Samsung also asserts that the OLED G9 is DisplayHDR True Black 400 certified. This display incorporates a curved panel as is frequently the case with these types of ultrawide displays. This particular curvature is rated at 1800R, providing a comfortable viewing angle.

“The Odyssey OLED G9 delivers a premium, super-ultrawide gaming experience that puts it in a class of its own, raising the bar for OLED monitors,” said Samsung’s Senior Vice President of Home Entertainment & Display Division, James Fishler.
It’s important to note that many games do not support the 32:9 ratio. In some circumstances, games will add black bars on the left and right side to fill up the gap, bringing the ratio back down to 16:9. Nonetheless, when 32:9 is achieved along with QHD resolution, 240 FPS, and all of the other specs, there’s nothing else on the market that can compete with the OLED G9.
Pre-orders for the Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 super-ultrawide monitor are now available. As an added bonus, customers who pre-order the OLED G9 will receive a free $250 electronic gift card for each unit purchased.
