Saturday Night Live Presents A Kenan and Kel Reunion

The long awaited Kenan and Kel reunion is finally here

Last night, a specific Saturday Night Live skit brought us the Kenan and Kel reunion that we’ve been waiting for over 20 years. In the rendition of Kenan and Kelly, Kel Mitchell returns along with this weekend’s SNL host Keke Palmer to star in a reboot of the comedic Nickelodeon sitcom from the late 90s.

Palmer, who just announced her pregnancy during her Saturday Night Live monologue, proposed the reboot in a mockumentary sketch, while reimagining the beloved show as Kenan and Kelly. The skit’s female counterpart of Mitchell’s character that’s played by Palmer announces she is expecting Thompson’s kid.

“Keke was gunning for an Emmy Award so she wanted gritty, dramatic moments in it,” said Thompson in the Kenan and Kel reunion. “I thought, ‘That won’t work.’ And I was right.”

The SNL skit takes us back to the show’s main site, Rigby’s convenience store, where Palmer adds her own flavor to the ostensibly funny story while Mitchell makes a surprise appearance. This is in addition to the brand of comedy that the Nickelodeon series brought audiences.

Devon Walker impersonated Kel Mitchell’s well-known “Good Burger” quote but Kenan immediately cuts him off saying, “I think we already found someone.”

Kenan Thompson recently made a suggestion in August that he and Mitchell are working on a follow-up to the 1997 Good Burger movie, and the two actors most recently shared the stage at the 2022 Emmys for a quick Good Burger parody. Details are still under wraps but we can’t wait for an official Kenan and Kel reunion.
