Microsoft Teams Premium Version Officially Launches

Powered by OpenAI’s GPT-3.5, the Microsoft Teams Premium version is here

The Microsoft Teams Premium version is officially available, and thanks to its ingenious use of AI, meetings may never be held the same way again. Using the same technology behind OpenAI’s chatbot ChatGPT, it allows users to fully automate the process of taking notes during meetings and other ways to increase productivity.

Large language models driven by OpenAI’s GPT-3.5 are included in the Microsoft Teams Premium version to make meetings of all kinds “more intelligent, personalized and protected”. Over the past year, Microsoft Teams has received more than 400 new features and enhancements, and many more are planned for 2023.

“But some customers are looking for Teams to do more; offer more advanced meeting capabilities to increase productivity and help to consolidate their software investments to reduce costs,” wrote Nicole Herskowitz, vice-president of Microsoft Teams. “Today, many organizations not only pay for meeting solutions, but also purchase expensive add-on products for webinars, virtual appointments, meeting intelligence and more.”

The premium service can also automatically generate meeting chapters based on its transcript. There are custom timeline markers that allow participants to trace back to a specific part of the meeting they may have missed, including times when their name was called.

Another awesome feature are its live translations, which generate real-time AI-powered translations of spoken language. This could be a huge help for meetings that were previously hampered by language barriers.

It was also revealed that the premium service now includes Microsoft Enterprise Content Delivery Network (eCDN), which provides the seamless delivery of meetings without putting additional burden on corporate connections.

To encourage users to purchase the new service, a discount on the Microsoft Teams Premium version is currently being offered, dropping the $10 monthly subscription down to $7 per month.
