The new trailer for the Bob Marley One Love biopic has arrived
Scheduled to arrive in theaters on February 14, 2024, the premiere of the Bob Marley One Love biopic is just around the corner! The biopic was filmed in England and Jamaica, including sites in Kingston such as Trench Town, the same location where Marley’s band The Wailers formed. The biopic chronicles Bob Marley’s life, including the attack on his life in December 1976 at his studio and home with Rita Marley and The Wailers.
“The cast and crew, which includes numerous Jamaican actors, deliver a unique cinematic experience that captures the essence of the legend’s spirit,” said Ziggy Marley, the son of Bob and Rita Marley, and also the co-producer of the film.
Aston Barrett Jr., the son of Aston “Familyman” Barrett, the bassist for The Wailers, is one of the cast members in the Bob Marley One Love biopic. In addition to carrying on his father’s legacy by leading and playing drums for The Wailers, who are currently on tour, the younger Barrett will portray his father in the movie.
“Nothing happens before it’s time and now is the time for the story of our father Bob Marley to be represented in a biopic theatrical release coming in 2024,” said Ziggy Marley in an Instagram post. “You’ve heard the music and you think you know the man but do you really understand what he went through and what moments shaped him into the person he became. … This film will bring you to witness for the first time what it was like to be around the legend, to see his pain his sorrows his joys and his redemption.”
The latest three-minute trailer focuses on how Kingsley Ben-Adir’s Marley attempts to protect his family from the threats directed at him while still making sure that his messages of peace are heard.
“There’s a war going on,” Marley says to his wife Rita, played by Lashana Lynch. “How I can bring peace? I can’t even get peace for myself.”
The Bob Marley One Love biopic is directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green (King Richard) and chronicles Marley’s life from the beginning of his rise to prominence until his passing in May 1981. James Norton, Jesse Cilio, Michael Gandolfini, Nadine Marshall, and Anthony Welsh are among the cast members who join Ben-Adir and Lynch. Marley’s family, including his wife Rita, son Ziggy, and daughter Cedella, produced the film.
