The highly anticipated Netflix Rustin official trailer has surfaced, led by Chris Rock and Colman Domingo. The biographical drama follows civil rights activist Bayard Rustin and will arrive in select theaters on November 3, and will stream globally on Netflix on November 17.

“Everybody knows the legacy of Martin Luther King and that heroic speech, and well they should,” said Rustin film director George C. Wolfe. “But it took a whole lot of effort to get 250,000 people to show up in Washington, D.C., a segregated city, to be a part of that wondrous moment.

The March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom’s creator is an illustration of how those who enable significant advancements are usually overlooked.

“So let’s know about the people who worked to organize and plan it,” Wolfe continued. “Let’s not just celebrate the obvious. Let’s celebrate that accomplishment, just the mere act of the march. Just the mere fact of the march is something that one can learn from.

The Netflix Rustin official synopsis reads:

“The architect of 1963’s momentous March on Washington, Bayard Rustin was one of the greatest activists and organizers the world has ever known. He challenged authority, never apologized for who he was, what he believed, or who he desired. And he did not back down. He made history, and in turn, he was forgotten.”

Domingo plays Rustin in the biopic. Adam Clayton Powell Jr., Ella Baker, and Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. are also depicted, enlightening the next generation about those who “inspired a movement in a march toward freedom.” Glynn Turman, Aml Ameen, Gus Halper, CCH Pounder, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Johnny Ramey, Michael Potts, Jeffrey Wright, and Audra McDonald, are all featured in the all-star cast.
