The official trailer the Dave Chappelle The Dreamer Netflix comedy special
Narrated by the legendary Morgan Freeman, the highly anticipated Dave Chappelle The Dreamer Netflix comedy special has released its trailer. The special is scheduled to premiere on Netflix December 31.
Alongside Chappelle, Freeman makes a special appearance in the trailer. Freeman is heard asking, “What do you dream about? Not the dreams you have in your sleep: the ones you hold in your heart. Don’t be intimidated by the audacity of your dream. Be inspired by it. What happens to a dream deferred? Lucky for Dave, he doesn’t know.”
The Dreamer Netflix comedy special is an hour-long and was shot during a stop at the Lincoln Theater in Chappelle’s hometown of Washington, D.C. Stan Lathan, the director of the comedian’s previous six Netflix specials, also reunites with the comic. The Dreamer is Chappelle’s first Netflix original since 2022’s What’s in a Name?, which featured the comedian giving a 40-minute address to the Duke Ellington School of the Arts, his alma mater.
His most recent Netflix comedy special was The Closer from 2021, which provoked protests and forced walkouts by staff members due to its transphobic content. Chappelle has produced six comedy specials for Netflix since he returned to the industry in 2016, the majority of which have received positive reviews.
The 2019 Mark Twain Prize honoree has also been honored with five Emmy Awards, including two for anchoring Saturday Night Live and three for his Netflix comedy specials Sticks & Stones (2019) and Equanimity & The Bird Revelation (2017). Across The Closer, Sticks & Stones, Equanimity & The Bird Revelation, and The Age Of Spin & Deep In The Heart Of Texas, Chappelle has won four Grammy Awards.
